The athletic trainers’ salary has increased by 20% since 2013, according to a survey conducted by the Seoul National University.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the average salary of the sports trainers was 8.4 million won ($7.4, $6,800) in 2013, and by 2017, that figure had increased to 12.3 million won.
The study said the average wage for the sports trainer was around 7 million won per year.
The increase in the salary of athletes in the past year is also attributed to the financial crisis.
According the Seoul Sports Federation, athletes who competed in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi lost money because of a shortage of tickets.
